This opportunity lies within the group’s Queensland practice, with a strong focus on energy projects in Northern Queensland, including hydro, solar, and wind energy transitions. This role offers exposure to significant project matters, particularly in areas such as project development, M&A transactions, joint ventures, infrastructure, and sale and transportation arrangements. You will be working with leading energy companies, financiers, and government entities, providing strategic advice on some of Australia’s most significant energy projects.
Your Opportunity:
You will have the chance to take control of your legal pathway, gaining experience in emerging sectors such as hydrogen and renewable energy, and forging your practice specialty in line with future industry demand.
Spanning a variety of complex and high-value matters, including:
- Advising on the development and sale of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydro.
- Structuring and advising on M&A transactions and joint ventures for major energy corporations.
- Assisting with project development and regulatory approvals for LNG, CSG, and hydrogen projects.
- Advising on transportation and infrastructure agreements for petroleum, minerals, and renewable energy projects.
- Providing legal counsel on gas supply agreements and large-scale industrial energy transitions.
- Working with financiers on due diligence for significant energy and resources projects.
The Role:
- Advise on energy and resources projects, including sale, transportation, and processing arrangements, as well as M&A transactions and joint ventures.
- Work closely with partners on large-scale energy transitions, focusing on renewable projects and regulatory compliance.
- Engage with clients in the energy sector, including major corporations, financiers, and government bodies.
- Take control of your legal pathway, developing expertise in emerging energy sectors such as hydrogen and water projects.
- Collaborate with senior team members and mentor junior lawyers as you build your career within the firm.
Ideally, you will bring with you:
- Bachelor of Laws with strong academic credentials.
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in corporate or energy law, with a focus on large-scale projects.
- Experience advising on M&A transactions, joint ventures, or infrastructure development in the energy or resources sectors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and lead negotiations.
- Passion for the energy sector, with an interest in emerging areas such as renewables and hydrogen.
- Ambitious and proactive, with a desire to contribute to significant legal matters and develop professionally.
