The Opportunity
An established independent Perth law firm is seeking a Practice Leader to drive a deep Wills & Estates practice. Assume leadership of an existing practice, with a clear succession pathway and a substantial foundation of longstanding client relationships.
With an established history in the Western Australian market, The Firm is entering a new phase of growth under refreshed leadership. Central to this is a focus on practice succession, continuity of trusted client relationships and the development of its next generation of senior practitioners.
The wills and estates practice is well established, supported by highly experienced senior consultants with longstanding relationships across private clients, high-net-worth individuals, families and business owners. The opportunity is to progressively transition these relationships and take ownership of an existing workflow, rather than build a practice from the ground up.
The work spans sophisticated estate planning and administration, including complex asset holdings, trusts, business and family structures, testamentary arrangements and deceased estates. There is also a natural alignment with The Firm’s commercial, property and business succession practices, creating ongoing opportunities for cross-referrals and broader client engagement.
With an experienced team already in place, the incoming lawyer will lead the day-to-day practice, mentor developing practitioners and work closely with senior leadership to shape its long-term direction. The structure offers genuine autonomy, direct client ownership and the ability to build a sustainable practice within an established and supportive platform.
About You
- Ideally a minimum of 8 years’ PQE, with substantial experience in wills, estate planning, probate and deceased estate administration.
- Strong technical expertise across complex estate structures, testamentary trusts, succession planning and high-value estate matters.
- An established reputation for trusted client advisory, with the ability to manage longstanding private client, family and business relationships.
- Demonstrated mentorship capability, or a clear readiness to supervise and develop lawyers while assuming broader practice ownership.
- Commercially minded and collaborative, with an interest in building a long-term practice through client stewardship, internal referrals and strategic growth.
